TORONTO, Sept. 18 /CNW/ - Student Price Card (SPC Card) - Canada's largest youth loyalty program - announced today that September 29th, 2007 is the official date of its National Shopping Day. This first ever event gives youth the opportunity to receive up to double discounts when they use their SPC Card or BMO SPC Mosaik MasterCard at participating retailers.

Fifty-two (52) retailers - representing more than 2,700 locations - are participating in the event nationwide. Retailers include: Aldo, Athletes World, Bentley, Bluenotes, the Bay, Esprit, Foot Locker, Guess, Roots, Sirens, Sport Chek, Sterling, Stitches, Urban Behavior and Zellers.

Azima Thakor, 17, a student at Kipling Collegiate Institute in Toronto, describes the event as "very beneficial to students because you're getting double the discounts...I feel that this event will really make students feel significant and independent in making their own personal transactions."

Nicholas Bianchi, SPC Card Director of Sales and Marketing suggests "our goal was to create an exclusive shopping event that rewards students for their loyalty by providing them with an incredible day of savings on the things they need most. Due to the timing and relevancy of this event it could easily provide greater value to student shoppers than Boxing Day."

What makes this even more exciting for us is that BMO Mosaik MasterCard recently announced that it has made SPC discounts a featured option for its student customers. That means students who have a new BMO SPC Mosaik MasterCard will have a convenient way to make their purchases and enjoy great savings on the things that they would normally buy," said Mr. Bianchi.

"Unlike any other student credit card on the market, the BMO SPC Mosaik MasterCard provides our student customers with a complete set of rewards that are relevant to their lifestyle, to their tastes, and to their needs," said Nancy Marescotti, Director, BMO Mosaik MasterCard. "The option to combine SPC Card instant savings with the additional value of AIR MILES or CashBack rewards delivers unparalleled value," she said. "One Card. Twice the Benefits, and a dedicated shopping day that really helps our student customers stretch every dollar they have - you couldn't ask for better value."

SDN PRECON at ITEXPO Miami

Software-defined network is considered by many to be one of the most important, and potentially disruptive, developments in networking since the rise of the Internet. To date, networks and connectivity have come first, and applications have followed. SDN turns this model on its head, approaching networking from an apps-first standpoint.

In this SDN pre conference at ITEXPO Miami, we will define SDN, look at the technologies and components involved in SDN, the use cases of SDN, the players involved in moving SDN forward, and what this all means for networking as we know it.
